Coming at you from my new walk in closet!! Did anyone score anything from the Missoni for Target line?! Even through all the craziness I managed to get a few things, and kept myself free of bruises and scratches!

this is the perfect fall hat!

(ignore the Burberry wedges trying to take the limelight. I have my closet set up like a store with everything on display! Should have moved these, whoops!) I absolutely was in love with the block heel on these shoes! With most of my pumps being stilettos, I thought that these would be a nice change.

My full score: brown floppy hat, high heels, dishes, stoneware platter, cardigan, and clutch. The one thing I truly wanted though, the patterned flats, were not a success. Sigh. Did anyone score the sweater dresses? Those were my second fave!!

Battle of the Red Soles

My beloved Louboutin lost his battle to fashion powerhouse Yves Saint Laurent yesterday for the exclusive right to all things scarlet (at least when it comes to the outer soles of shoes).

In federal court, US District Judge Victor Marrero ruled that Louboutin -- even if widely recognized for its trailblazing use of red under the shoe -- could not stop competitors like YSL from doing the same thing.

"...in the fashion industry color serves ornamental and aesthetic functions vital to robust competition, the court finds that Louboutin is unlikely to be able to prove that its red outsole brand is entitled to trademark protection...Awarding one participant in the designer shoe market a monopoly on the color red would impermissibly hinder competition among other participants. YSL has various reasons for seeking to use red on its outsoles," said Marrero. (who revealed himself as an ardent admirer of the sexy slip-ons!!)

YSL is scornful of Louboutin's claim to a break through in fashion design, saying it has featured red soles all the way back to the 1970s... with Louboutin only emerging on the fashion scene in 1991 and obtainng a US patent for the red soles in 2007.

The idea for red soles was "copied from King Louis XIV's red-heeled dancing shoes or Dorothy's famous ruby slippers in 'The Wizard of Oz,'" Judge Marrero quoted YSL as saying. OUCH!

Regardless of anything "legal," I believe everyone is aware what Louboutin stands for, and will continue to remain known for.

...that being said if you have seen Palais, you know who it belongs to as well!!

Street Style - Mollie King

Mollie King is my new style crush! She is from "The Saturdays" (a British girl band for those of you non-UK peeps).

Street Style - simple casual girly chic with a trendy edge. Usually seen wearing mini-dresses and skirts with chunky heels to show off her long legs ... "over sized sunglasses, over sized handbag carried at the elbow" look.

She has evniable street style. I like how she isn't all "branded out" and most of her outfits can be recreated in H&M. My favorite look?

I have Wildfox Couture's "Dirty Blonde" shirt and I would have never thought to wear it with a bodycon striped skirt like this! Can't wait till its warmer so I can rock this look.

(She also definitely inspired me to run out to Forever 21 to buy knee highs in every color. )

Ahh the ever so lovely and magical Louboutin glitter pump. So fun... So easy on the eyes... So easily swept away by red soled daydreams ... and I find myself thinking "$895 really is not that much..."

WRONG. With a new mortgage payment taking a chunk out of my hard earned paycheck I have to snap back to reality. But on the bright side... having "grown up" bills doesn't have to be such a drag, thanks to this recent find -

Meet Pour La Victoire's "Ionia" recently put on SALE at Bloomie's for a mere $182 from $260. They may not be the stuff red bottoms are made of, but they do have a gold stylized fleur de lis at the sole, giving them the unexpected touch Pour La Victoire is known for. A designer shoe AND a bargain? Crave or Save? Its definitely a "Save" (for now!)

Pre - Spring Fever

Well its not quite Spring yet, but the weather today has me feeling like it! Its beautiful and sunny in NJ today... almost considered dropping the top in my car but the wind is still slightly frigid (and I didn't have a hair tie!)

The past few months have been especially key and busy in my wedding planning (which you probably can tell from my blog absence) but none-the-less I have 3 months to go and we are in the process of buying our first home! I couldn't be more excited.

So along with fashion, I'm going to be able to finally do some interior designs on Couture Rehab as well! I absolutely can't wait. The new place is so perfect and has a lot of character that I can't wait to share. I was emailed a lot asking for a room tour, but my room at the 'rents has been half packed up for quite some time now. So thats not quite how I wanted to be represented!

Edgy Must-Have Mania

One of my favorite looks to rock is the flirty feminine piece mixed with the raw, edgy, attention getting piece. Last year I bought the coolest Gucci wedge booties with a mix of suede, acrylic, and mesh fabrics. My description does them no justice; I'll have to post a picture so you can feast your eyes on these babies. Anyway, they are eccentric (thus why I love them) and I always get a slew of (mixed) comments on them when I take them out on the town. Paired with a ladylike LBD, or leggings and a tunic they become all the edge I need to pull off an otherwise ho-hum outfit. (another close second are my Marni wooden heels seen here and here and a close third are my JC Tick's obviously) The "Edge" doesn't have to only be a shoe, that just happens to be MY weakness.

I was so thrilled to see a lot of this theme in 2011 RTW styles, inspiring me to put together outfits I never dreamed of before.. Yes people... it is FASHION WEEK in NYC. Here are some of my favorites.

Nothing like screams "girly" quite like ruffles, soft colors, crosses and lace up leather.

An over sized statement necklace adds just the right amount of wow to this dress.

Delicate lace and beaded details are enhanced by the bold bag choice and leather accessories.

I loved this look. Take away the bright red shoe and silk scarf and this may just be the outfit you wear to work on a daily basis. Add both back in and you have a fierce edgy fashion forward look to rock around the office! A+ DKNY! ...

Take the above and switch out the trousers for a flirty skirt and you're ready for a night out without the hassle of a complete outfit change!

Bottom line... guaranteed you have many basics in your closet collecting dust that would be revived with a touch of edge! Just add your own twist!! Would you rock any of the above?

New Years Eve 2010.

I absolutely LOVE LOVE these shoes. Not only are they inexpensive, but they clean up so perfectly. These shoes saw the streets of NYC with the snow piled high (and the trash UGHHH!!) the floor of a beautiful lounge, and the spilled drinks to go along with it - and after a quick wipe off with soap and water they are as good as new!! What a great investment... considering purchasing them in black too. And the blue is the exact color in person.

I liked the idea of the LBD with a "POP" color shoe. The LBD is classic, but it can be so boring sometimes. But not with the perfect shoe. I wanted pink at first but I didn't want to be too Barbie. So royal blue it was, and they made the statement I wanted!

Over the past month not only have I acquired some cool new pieces, shoes, and jewelry, I also have done a TON of wedding stuff and started looking at places to live!! Super excited. It also has been somewhat funny... living in the North East is mucho EXPENSIVE to buy and rent. Even for a shoe box of an apartment... that wouldn't even fit my pajamas. Let alone shoes?! With roughly 250 pairs - UGH what am I going to do?!

My concern? How to make them look a little more glam and A LOT LESS Hogwarts... So after a little research, I found 3 simple answers.

1. Be a little daring with the color.

2. Pick a flattering cut.

A dolman sleeve instead of open sleeve will prevent you from getting lost in the piece by giving a distinct arm silhouette.

3. Choose appropriate accessories.

Take a tip from Kim K - picking a great pair of leopard print boots, professional handbag, and sunglasses immediately prevents the "bag lady" look. While you do not necessarily need the Louis Vuitton Pegase 55, Christian Louboutin Lipspike Boots, or Hermes' Birkin, be sure that you pick pieces that will enhance the look. Too much in this case will be, well, too much as the cape should be the focal point of the outfit.

I've missed you all! I apologize for not blogging regularly ... wedding planning is a BIG DEAL. I don't think I realized how involved it really is until lately. I'm 8 months out until the big day so it really is crunch time. This weekend I finally picked out the bridesmaid's dresses and our colors!! It was really exciting!!

Apart from all that, fall is my favorite season and Halloween is my favorite holdiay! So I had some festive Halloween fun this weekend too.

My first pumpkin of the season! My girlfriend and I spend our Sunday with Sangria, cheese, bike riding around Indian Lake, and pumpkins! (Mine is on the left, my attempt at Chanel, and her New York Yankees pride). It was a fabulous Sunday indeed.

I bought these lace up heeled booties from Asos back in the summer (mentioned here) in black and tan. I haven't pulled them out of the box at all until today. They're cute and comfortable! I keep seeing this style everywhere for Fall, so I can't wait to mix and match them with some cute Fall outfits in the next few months... until the peep toe is too much for the chilly NJ weather. I'm thinking slinky LBD and motorcycle jacket next time I wear them, what do you think?

If you know me, you know I am a huge fan of the sisters Kardashian, especially Kim. Back before Kim was the socialite/actress/celebutante/model she is now, with an entourage of hair and make up assistants and stylists, she was a stylist/personal shopper herself. (Clients included Brandy, Lindsay Lohan, and childhood friend Paris Hilton.)

I love seeing what kind of outfit Kim wears in her day to day (unstyled) life. Sure, she always looks gorgeous on the red carpet, photo shoots, and public appearances, but wouldn't we all with the right "people?" What it really comes down to is street style.

Key piece to dress up a black tee and distressed jeans? A cropped, fitted blazer.

A printed skirt pulls together a white tank and neutral accessories.

Kim's blue leather jacket adds the perfect pop of color to keep the basic black/white outfit from becoming too (yawn) boring.

How to keep a masculine shirt-dress feminine? The right color choice to compliment hair and skin tone along with a waist cinching belt to show off curves.

The perfect way to wear horizontal stripes? With a simple skirt, necklace and pumps.

Even if you are not a fan of Kim, you can understand that looking chic is super simple. And you don't have to spend a fortune. If you have the basics in your closet all you need are some accessories (a fun pair of shoes, handbag, chunky necklace, a scarf) to complete the look. And my favorite piece of advice - a good pair of sunglasses definitely go a long way!

I scored these for... ready? 80% off. 80% off!! I laughed while typing that. Awesome sale. I originally wanted Tom Ford's Andrea but had no luck since they are a super old style.

These are super lightweight and a smaller shield style.. which looks better on me. (I won't lie though, had they been a BIG shield style I would have rocked them anyways...)

I think Thakoon is a seriously underrated designer. (Though his prices may make you think otherwise... he can thank Anna Wintour for that.) Either way, he makes a great pair of sunglasses.

New Jersey has definitely taken a more mid-October outlook when it comes to weather this week. Unfortunately. I always get sad around this time of the year. But it's too soon yet. (Next week will be back in the 80s thank God!) Even though I am not yet ready for fall weather, I made it work to my advantage by reviving one of my favorite cool weather booties, my Jeffrey Campbell Ticks. I also pulled out my favorite denim button down that I can't get enough of, and realized how much I have missed the soft fabric. Its quite a difference to put on a long sleeve top once again after running around in tube and tank tops for months.

Forgive the slightly blurry pictures - I'll blame it on the wind. (And perhaps the mood)

I am back from vacation... hope you didn't miss me too much! I definitely missed blogging!

The end of the summer (tear) is one of my favorite times to search for good bargains and things I wouldn't normally buy at full price. I did well bargain hunting while on my Jersey Shore Vacation! Here are some higlights of my favorite buys.

Kelsi Daggar "Monaco." These were LOVELOVE at first sight. I find flats kind of boring unless they have something extra going on. Like the ruffle on these. And they were on sale! Regular $90. I paid $29. This is how I wore them:

Besides the amazing price I got for these, the Swarovski crystal sides sold me. I also really love the rose tinted lenses, unexpected and more fun than basic black or tan. Mission accomplished. So what do you think? I'm definitely an Aviator girl, so the over sized round frames will be a nice new change.

I think the best piece of vintage is one that isn't found in a second hand shop, or a garage sale, but in your own mother's closet. Meet my mom's best kept secret, Gucci.

The boxy shape of the bag and long leather strap is so late 80s! LOVELOVE. The leather is deliciously worn-in (but still looks great!) and could probably use a patch up in a few spots and a repair here or there... but I won't. I think it looks good just as it is. It was given to my mother by her late mother-in-law (my late grandmother). Timeless. Priceless.

Tonight was Artistic Academy's Beauty Can Cure benefit. It was wonderful. All the girls and guys did a fabulous job putting it together and pulling it off. The amount of time and dedication put forth by these students to create a show for a great cause while also being in the midst of studying and taking the test that will define their career is inspiring to say the least.

This year, the show was set up in different themes: music, movies, pop culture, around the world, under the sea (to name a few). It was sort of like a glam Halloween party! All fashions were done up with flawless make up, and creative hair styles that are just not as good in pictures as they were in person, but I tried to still capture the moment. Hope you enjoy!

I won't hate, because to each his own. But I will say that the term "Reality" should be used very, very, VERY loosely when referring to the genre of this show ;) YOU'RE SUSPECT!

If you know me well, you know that I am a HUGE reality TV junkie. I don't regularly watch "The City" but I have caught an episode or two and found myself drooling over Olivia Palermo's wardrobe in real life. I know for Whitney Port supporters, Olivia is her nemesis. But come on, Whitney Port NEEDS to toughen up. Its a jungle out there.

I have a confession to make... I know many bloggers worship at the temple of Alexa Chung but I just can't relate to her. (GASP!) I think I need a little more Glam-Bam-Thank-You-Mam. Thus, I feel like I could channel Olivia on a regular basis.

The best part about Olivia? She recycles outfits and shoes! How very refreshing and unheard of!

This Friday I am attending Artistic Academy's "Beauty Can Cure" benefit, which includes the best designs in hair, make up and some fashion too. Ticket proceeds are donated to cancer research. I'm very excited, and for a good cause! Stay tuned.

Monday is back again... grrr (but now almost over!!). Do you ever wake up and wish that sweatpants were standard on a "business casual" dress code? Yes it was one of those days!

Well I didn't rock the sweats today, though I don't deny that I have replaced my dress pants with stretchy black yoga pants in the past. (Don't deny it either - you're considering trying that!) After work I did slip into a cozy shift dress with my JC's.

I can't lie... I really wish the clogs were peep toe. (But no one, except Chanel, can compete with the studs on these clogs!) Which is making me want these from Elizabeth and James more and more! I think a trip to Neiman or Nordstrom is in order!

Are you on Carrie overload yet??! I'm finally going to see Sex and the City 2 tonight! I saw the last one opening day so I'm a little behind this time because of the long weekend. I'm a very big fan of the series so I don't really care what the critics are saying about it... I'm very excited.

I own the whole series on DVD and I watched it in it's entirety over the past few weeks to get ready. How can you not love Carrie? I pulled up some of my favorite Carrie Bradshaw looks to share.

Carrie going for jury duty in her pinstripe overalls and cherry print top. I love that she was so fabulous for JURY DUTY! The only fashion faux pas in the picture is BERGER. YUCK!

I love the look of her piled on pearls. Its one of my favorite ways to accessorize.

"I'm Candy, your candy striper!" Adorable way to take care of Big when he was sick after surgery. Such a cute idea!

I think everyone was speechless upon first sight of Carrie Bradshaw working it down the Manhattan sidewalk in this gorgeous dress. Love how it was paired with a masculine shoe to not appear overly girly.

The iconic tutu dress! Created by the genius Patricia Field. I love this dress! Loved it even more when it made a comeback in the first movie (did you realize?!) and all the women voted "TAKE!" Smart move.

This has got to be my favorite look. From the over sized boyfriend cardigan, to the heeled patent oxfords, thigh high socks, driving gloves, clutch, stripes and bold patterns.. shall I go on?! Its LOVELOVE.

Sunday Funday

Today was a lazy and beautiful Sunday. We had great weather all weekend! I spent my day with Jordan and my fiance just gardening and hanging out at the house.

This is my FAVORITE comfy outfit. The sweatshirt is super old, probably from middle school. I altered it to make it off the shoulder, (like I did here also) and voila! It added instant chic to an otherwise boring sweatshirt!

My little man! He's too funny...

The owl pendant necklace is new. I ordered it, thinking the owl was much smaller. I actually like that its bigger because the detail on it shows much more. I have been going crazy looking for a vintage turquoise ring. I found this one at an old lady's garage sale for 25 cents! Its really heavy and sturdy, a real vintage costume jewelry piece. I have seen ones very similar to this one, almost identical in H&M and Forever 21 (never in my size... boo). That just proves that you should never throw anything away. It's going to be back in style one day so hang onto it! Garage sales are the best for finding cool things. I'm so happy the good weather is coming so I can go to more and find some hidden treasure!

Sorry I have been so absent lately. Lots of new developments in my life that I will touch on shortly...!! And I promise that I will do an outfit post this weekend. I have some great ideas in mind and some new things I am dying to share! So stay tuned... the great weather that is coming up this weekend will make for some great pictures I'm sure!

But for now, kind of a more personal post... wanted to say thank you to all my friends, my family, my readers, and new friends I have made along the way. To the people that matter the most to me, ones I have just met, and people who support my blog. This big piece of me that I almost didn't even start.

I started writing because THIS is all I would do in my spare time. Talk about fashion, stalk the latest looks out there, stop perfect strangers and tell them I loved their style and "where can I find that" (I'm sure some people thought I was crazy) and share my knowledge with my friends. Your feedback means so much to me. The "I really liked that" 's, to "Um.. no offense but that is really ugly" 's are great, and I love it so keep it coming!

I'm a little more than half way to 50 followers. When I get there I plan on doing something special for everyone and anyone who follows and comments. I know most people do a giveaway, which its great. If there is anything else that you would like to see, I'm open to suggestion.

I was in the city today... and of course I had to stop at H&M before I went back to Jersey. I was browsing some of their latest pieces, when I stumbled on the Maxi Skirt. The mini has reigned for a few years now, and it seems the maxi is attempting to steal its place on women's hips. How do you feel about maxi skirts?

It is essential in every woman's wardrobe to include a fitted blazer. Don't get me wrong, obviously I think boyfriend blazers are great, but there is just something about a men's-wear piece tailored for a woman's figure.

I pulled mine out of hiding to create a versatile outfit. I had an important meeting that I needed to look professional for, but directly after I was meeting friends for drinks at a local dive bar and there was no time to change. Not to look under or over dressed for both occasions... I plotted my ensemble plan.

LOVELOVE the back pleats of the blazer... that along with the brass button hardware sold me.

So I took off the blazer, added my favorite trucker hat, and I went from chic to casual, just what I was looking to do. Simple enough right? The choice of accessories and shoes helped to spice up a plain white V-neck. Buttttt... I'll be honest - the hat didn't stay on for too long. I was having a good hair day!

The New "It" Shoe

When Crocs first came out I pretty much held back gags every time I saw them. I don't care how comfortable - the horrid array of colors, the random items people stuck into the holes - squishy, rubbery, flat clogs? I just wasn't feeling it.

So when the buzzzzz started about Alexa Chung's Chanel "shoes" on the cover of March's UK Vogue I was expecting a sky high stiletto, a sexy wedge, some hot gladiator sandal... boy was I wrong.

Initial reaction - Alexa Chung is sporting shoes that look like Crocs on heels? Really?? Coco Chanel will strike me dead, Uncle Karl will come and find me - therefore, I KID.

The updated style clogs are the Cinderella to the Croc's Ugly Step Sister.

I was on the fence for quite some time about the clogs. Seeing the Elizabeth and James style started changing my mind, but I wasn't about the peep toe and thinner heel. If it's going to be a clog, then it needs to be done right. (ie - closed toe, chunky heel, Chanel style) But with Chanel's "price upon request" (I'm not surprised, that's Lagerfeld) price tag, you know those bad boys would have me living on crackers and tap water for months... plus riding my Huffy around town.

True to form... Jeffrey Campbell had just what I was craving. Perfect for Spring, and just like Chanel's. These called out to me...and I answered.

I had to order them...because naturally they are sold out everywhere, just like the Ticks were...but I did locate a pair! Now I will just have to figure out how I want to rock them...without pulling a Naomi Campbell circa 1993 at the Vivenne Westwood fashion show.

So, I'm team clog. Maybe I'll also pick up a pair of Crocs. HA NOT.

A Weekend in the Life of...

This weekend was probably one of the best I have had in a LONG time. I found myself with a lot of spare time that was quickly filled up with friends, family and FUNFUNFUN.

I decided to do a post that reflects me in my "real" life, versus my normal outfit or editorial posts.

Saturday night, me and my girls took Hoboken by storm and had the perfect ladies night out. Here's how it went down...

I polished my toe nails with Essie's "Vinyl Bikini" white polish. I was kind of unsure about buying it because I was afraid I'd look like I grabbed the white-out bottle instead of the nail polish... but I really like how it looks. What do you guys think? A Few of My Favorite Things (Part Deux)

As most of you know, I am newly engaged. The planning and preparation has been non-stop and so exciting!

So lately I have been looking for the perfect LWD (little white dress) to wear to my engagement party. Naturally, being the out of control shopper than I am, I have found not only one, but THREE beautiful prospects for the party...and I want your input!

1. Bebe's Belted "Sailor" Dress. I loved it because you can wear the straps so many different ways, or strapless! (see a better picture here)

2. Asos Ruffle Sleeve Lace Cocktail Dress. I wasn't going to mix black with my ensemble, but the back of the dress is what totally sold me, the cute bow was to die for.

3. You know how I mentioned that H&M's Garden Collection sold out THE DAY it came out? And every fashionista's must have dress was virtually unattainable? Wellll SOMEHOW I got that dress in the cream color!

So that leaves the question... what shoes to wear to top off the look?! I'm wearing white, so obviously its all about the pop of color. Here are the ones in my collection that I am considering:

Since the dress is slightly detailed already with the lace, ruffles, and bow, a loud color shoe wouldn't work, and would also take away the detail of the dress.

Boyfriend's back? Yes, and better than ever.

I happen to really love the boyfriend jean look, though my fiance will disagree. He calls them the "no butt" jeans. Ha. But after a little explaining...a flash of some midriff and a little dab of cleavage, even he was intrigued. Some days just call for a looser pant. And if done right, this look is CHIC CHIC CHIC.

Think a look more Jen Aniston... than Katie Holmes. Sorry Mrs. Cruise.

To pull off this look (without being mistaken for a man) stick to the three golden rules:

1. Cuff the pant leg at the ankle. It's undeniable - a woman's ankle and foot are sexy. Because this style is meant to sit low on the hips, it works on both curvy and straight bodies. If you are petite or have a short waist, even out proportions by cuffing jeans with a smaller roll.

2. Consider what you are going to pair with your boyfriend jeans. In order to maintain a look that is feminine, it’s best to stick with slim-fitting tops and girly footwear. (ie - a good push-up bra and some wedges).

3. If you do decide to wear a pair of men’s jeans, make sure they fit! Find a pair that fit you through the waist and hips, and do opt for a straight leg. Men’s boot cut and flared denim don’t work quite as well for this cuffed denim trend. But there’s no need to cross-dress or borrow your honey’s denim (though if it works why not?) these jeans are available virtually everywhere.

Sunday Afternoon

How was your weekend? It was cooler here than last weekend, but still warm enough for open-toed footwear and short sleeves. A cool, but not cold day always calls for a light jacket to accompany an outfit. I have put away most of my fleeces and scarves in hopes that the cold weather will not return. But I did keep out a chic tuxedo style jacket for a day like today to throw over my outfit when the wind picked up.

Halo Around Her Finger

As promised, my new military style shirt/tunic from Zara. Well, its supposed to be worn as a tunic... but my legs always have other ideas for tunic style shirts. Rather than get ticketed for indecent exposure...I threw on some shorts. When worn as a tunic, it looked nice with a brown belt cinched around the waist (not pictured). I chose to keep it loose with the shorts. The color is actually a soft pink; it came across more khaki in the pictures.

The weather also played a factor in how I was going to pull off this heavy cotton shirt. Since I was already wearing shorts and it was a blazing 80 degrees... it got rolled up.

Letters On My Neck (In Old English)

The weather today is back to being cold, and feeling more Fall than Spring. I had to break out my Fall coat and wear a long sleeve... sigh.

Days like today call for a nice piece of jewelry to accessorize a blah outfit (and a blah mood!!)

This silver necklace was a gift from my fiance a few years ago, designed by Christie Martin. If you aren't familiar with her jewelry, you can browse her pieces here. I'm a huge fan of the Old English style line she has out. I love how the pieces are edgy and more interesting than just your regular initial necklace.

Christie Martin designs are a favorite among celebrities, (Such as Carmen Electra in her Old English gold necklaces!) and her styles adorned Christina Aguilera for a past Maxim spread. I love the cross necklace and cuff!

The next piece I neeeeeed to have from her line is The Old English Signet Ring. I'm in love with it! (I don't think it helps much that the display for the ring is the exact one I want... right down to the letter!!) The stars on the side of the ring are just a little detail that makes her jewelry so unique and fun!

Monday Treat

This weekend was a great one for me. I spent most of my weekend at home enjoying the nice weather! Since it was 70, I was able to put the top down in my car and took Jordan for his first convertible ride. He sat in my lap the whole time and needless to say he loved it.

Isn't he the cutest little ham... sticks his little face right in the camera.

So, I was on the shoe hunt this weekend (as always) and I got a REDICULOUS steal!! Take a look at my new addition...

The heels are by Marni. I can't tell you how long I have been searching for the right pair of Marni's in this style... and these are them! The price was even better. They haven't arrived yet (online shopping at its best) but I can't wait until they do. Just another pair to add to my 2010 Spring collection that will keep these company.

I Love That Lavender Blonde

Since it was yet again another gorgeous day, and the rain puddles had dried up, I felt it was time for the Maybach of all footwear to come out and play.

If you are ever lucky enough to own a pair of Christian Louboutin stilettos, it will be hard to go back to normal shoes again. TRUST ME. No other shoe can compare. Just a flash of the red bottoms, and a classic (white tank and jeans) becomes a staple outfit. Just a few accessories and you're ready to go with a simple yet lust-worthy look.

Today I wanted my makeup look to be all about the eyes. So I lined them with a soft black kohl pencil, an extra coat of mascara, skipped the lip-gloss and went for a nude, matte lip. Here's the end result.

A Taste of Spring

Today was the most beautiful day New Jersey has seen in months. In the 60s and sunny; I couldn't wait to get out of work and take my dog, Jordan, for a walk.

In my town, tucked away in the hills, there is an old castle that was built in the 1940s. Modeled after 15th century French chateau, it is a beautiful piece of history, and has been featured in Weird New Jersey due to its majestic but erie look. There is a nice park by it that Jordan loves, so I figured I'd take my chances with whatever may be haunting it. (My guess would be mice!)

[In this picture you can catch a glimpse of the belt from Zara I got over the weekend. I threw it on to jazz up my casual cardigan and leggings!]

Never to be without an accessory I grabbed my new piece before running out the door. This is my new two finger flower ring! I have quite a few of the double-finger style rings these days, but this is the newest, and I love it! Does it remind you of anything?

I scored this fun pair at H&M, and at $50 for an all-leather bootie I felt it was quite a steal. The "Caged" style bootie will be perfect for warmer weather. From the breathable holes of the "cage" to the open toe, they won't be hot or inappropriate. But keep in mind, this is an evening style. Keep them in the box until sundown!

Long Live McQueen

So I splurged this week... and bought myself something I have been coveting.

Alexander McQueen's silk/chiffon skull scarf!!! Just typing it out is so exciting!! I had a hard time narrowing down which color to get, there are a few different options. So I went with the royal blue with sky blue skulls. The colors are so bold and perfect for warmer weather. My second favorite was the royal blue with the white skulls. Hmm...maybe I'll have to get two... !!!

The best part about it? I ordered it yesterday and it came TODAY! And the shipping was free...!!

Rest in peace, I will be rocking your memory.

What's Haute for Spring

I couldn't be more excited about the arrival of March 20th 2010. And what is so special about March 20th you ask? Well it is the first day of Spring! If you live on the east coast you know that this winter didn't kick into effect until February, when we were brutally hit with foot after foot of snow. Horrible!

So its only appropriate that I divulge into my top 5 Spring must haves!

5. Socks (knee-high, over-the-knee and thigh-high)

Hemlines will be creeping up shorter, but with chilly mornings and evenings still lingering these are not only fashionable but essential. The best part about investing in a few pairs is that they will still be appropriate come Fall.

4. Rompers and Jumpsuits

Every so often, one-piece styles of clothing have a revival. This trend started up again recently in early 2009 with bodysuits and leotards, and is now in full force towards jumpsuits, playsuits and rompers. I am still undecided about how they look on me but I won't rule them out just yet. Especially after seeing Nicole Richie in the one below. The belt is the magic touch and defines her waistline. Perfect! They won't be for everyone, but they will offer more options than you'd think.

3. Feathers

Spring's flirty new plume-trimmed trend pretty much guarantees a fun night out and a least ten screeches of “OMG, where did you get that?!” IMPORTANT: keep it simple! The feathers should be the most theatrical part of your outfit. Stay away from heavy jewelry. Only true peacocks can pull off those types of dramatics.

2. Sparkle and Shine

Embellishment continues to climb the fashion charts with glitter, sequins, beading, and crystals. Even the most basic T-shirt is upgraded to total decadence this season. The best part about this trend? You can also do it yourself!

New Twists for 2010

If you followed fashion week as closely as I did, you got to see first hand the amazing couture creations our favorite ladies and gentlemen dreamed up for 2010. And now that spring is getting closer I'm so excited to be able to try some of these trends out!!

A big part of pulling off the look completely is the hairstyle. Without that it leaves something to be desired.

A trend I spied on the runway for Spring and Summer 2010 that I fell in love with were the designers who had their gorgeous models done up in expensive designs, perfect makeup, and then a surprisingly simple hairstyle: The Braid.

I know what you're thinking. Braids? They belong on horses... athletes... or the days when you dont feel like pulling a comb through your hair. Not so anymore. Models sported the look in a unique way.

Oscar de la Renta RTW 2010

Oscar de la Renta's take was in the form of the "milkmaid" style braid. Not my favorite, but the interwoven colorful ribbon further upgrades the look with a chic patch of color that also corresponds to the models outfit color scheme. The innocent allure of the models apperance is created due to the exposure of the face. The intense eyeliner on the models balances the youthful glow with the look of sophistication.

Missoni RTW 2010

The fishtail braids that rocked the Missoni runway during the Spring/Summer 2010 presentation were meant to project the new revolution of the braid. This style added a little more edge to the breezy summer dresses the models wore.

Alexander Wang RTW 2010

Alexander Wang happens to be one of my favorite designers, so of course I am biased and saved the best for last. But his take on braids was classic, and hard not to like. He substituted the fairy-tale side swept look (think Rapunzel) with a messy and more relaxed look that announces the arrival of a warmer season.

Braids were also spotted at the Oscars. Who do you feel rocked it better? Rachel or Kate?

If you are an avid fashion magazine reader, like myself, you know all you're really paying for are the ads. (In my opinion, the ads are the best part, who doesn't love looking at 6 foot blondes in the best the fashion world has to offer?)

Anyway, one of the ads in the March InStyle was for Rent the Runway. I'll let them explain in their own words.

Truth about me: I love reading. Anything. Everything. In that dorky way. Like I'd rather finish this book then go out to a club. And I can get through a book in a day or two. A magazine? Eight minutes, thoroughly. I was checking out a book store yesterday when I stumbled into this. I went for another book, and when I went to pull it out PostSecret fell off the shelf. Meant to be?

Frank Warren started PostSecret when he requested that people mail to him their secrets anonymously on a homemade postcard. You can imagine the shitstorm of confessions that came to his door when his vision eventually took off. All he asked was that the secrets be truthful and never before revealed to anyone. In just a few pages I read some of the most dark and shocking confessions ever. And some of the funniest.

Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor's Goods

When God told Moses to write this commandment, perhaps he knew that Moses had spied his neighbor's shoe closet.

It's obvious I have an (un)healthy appetite for footwear...which is evident in my massive shoe collection (and credit card bill).

Vanessa Hudgens is by no means my neighbor, in fact I really can't stand her. However, when I spotted her out and about in LA wearing these I needed to know who, what, where and how I could get my hands on them.

And of course I did.

New York... je t'aime

This weekend rang in an over-due city visit, and of course a celebration was to be had. And where else to spend a weekend than the bright lights of New York City?

A celebration in the city calls for a well thought out ensemble. For me it was all about the shoes. By some miraculous feat of God I scored a pair of the sold-out-everywhere Jeffrey Campbell "Tick" wedge booties. Pebbled leather, studded wedge, zip-up sexual seduction. So of course, my outfit was all about the shoes.

I kept it simple, pairing a solid black cami with a black flat-pleat mini (LOVELOVE the exposed back zip on the skirt. It adds a little raw edge to a feminine piece). Then jazzed it up with accessories and let the shoes speak for themselves... and did they ever.

Slipping on these 5 inchers turned me into a statuesque blonde frolicking around the streets of NYC. And at already 5'9" ... I turned a few heads (maybe in fear). Believe it or not... these wedges are SO COMFORTABLE they put the Juicy ballerina flats I wore in to shame!! I had my emergency band-aid blister kit on hand (a MUST with any heels and late night drinks and dancing) and I didn't even need to use it. Holler that.

My accessories included vintage chandelier earrings, bangles, and my favorite piece of costume jewelry in my collection...

This cocktail ring gets more attention than any piece of jewelry I have ever rocked. I usually have at least 4 to 5 people commenting on it whenever I wear it out. And rightfully so! Its pretty fierce and thats why I had to have it!

The best part of my outfit besides what is mentioned above?? My new gorgeous engagement ring...!

Faking It

If you've been to Canal Street in New York you've been harassed by the peddlers selling that Louis Vuitton for a ridiculously cheap price. You've followed the woman a block and a half to an underground lair full of Chanel, Coach, Fendi, Prada, Gucci and Juicy Couture heaven. You've bartered for a piece of "designer" history, hoping to drop the seller down $10 or $12 before leaving with your score. You've bragged to a friend about how cheap you got your "Prada," or lied and pretended the handbag was real.

Any readers have a younger sibling, cousin, niece or nephew? If you grew up in a country that mass produced these products you could thank them for your new "Chanel" handbag. Fake designer items are produced in countries that use child labor. Many times these children are working in fabulous conditions - starved, chained, refused when needing to use the restroom, and even beaten. Nice right? One recent report of a raid in Thailand tells about children who were found with broken legs because they wanted to "go outside and play" instead of producing these counterfeit products. The boss of that sweatshop made sure that no playing would happen didn't he? These companies are STEALING childhoods.

After 9/11 our country felt a nation-wide support never seen before. people wanted to help each other to defend our country's honor; to build the American people up again from one of the most vicious terrorist attacks in history. U.S. authorities have reported that the sale of counterfeit goods is a source of funding for terrorist groups throughout the world. By buying that handbag, pair of sunglasses, walled, hat etc. YOU are contributing to the growth of terrorism. Embarassing isn't it? Do you remember the raid this past December in Chinatown? New York officials stopped over $1 million dollars from reaching the hands of terrorist groups. But with the worldwide counterfeit trade valued at $500 billion, that's hardly a stab at terrorist hearts.

Many people have the "who cares" attitude because it doesn't directly affect them. If none of this is registering with you, how about the fact that these fake products just look horrific? That a fake can be spotted a mile away by most people? You don't have to be a fashionista to know when some lady at the mall's Gucci is actually a Smucci. Fake designer handbags are made with poor craftsmanship using inferior materials. If you look closely the stitching at the seams is often crooked and unevenly spaced, even double and triple stiched over in some places; the work of an unskilled child. The thread used is never of matching color, and not strong enough to hold the handbag together for very long. Classy.

On the other hand, designers who create their products spend a lot of time and brainpower designing, manufacturing, trade marking, promoting and marketing their products. They have also worked hard to build their reputations as the best in their field. They have spent decades building up their image, and their success lives on even after they have passed away. They are proud of what they have created, and the quality of their product. I picture myself an old lady in a wheel chair, still wearing a beautiful beaded couture jacket from YSL that I purchased 20 something years ago. I'd like to see if the lady at the mall is still toting around her Smucci.

No matter how fetching the cheaper version is, there is no replacing the real thing.

Eternal Fashion Perfection

50 and Fabulous

You know who she is. 6'0"... 100lbs ... size 4 ... 39"/19"/33" (in real life measurements) designer dream house, pink Corvette/Ferrari ... and a hot boyfriend/husband/pool boy/married lover (depending on his outfit and your mood) that is always clean-shaven and never talks back. But as of late, Barbie has even more reason to make you green with envy. Ken is out.

So who's in? I'll give you a few hints. He's French. His intricately sculpted footwear adorns the likes of socialites, A-list celebrities, and a very fabulous jersey girl. Think sky high stiletto heels and signature red soles. Still don't know?? That would be one Christian Louboutin. You lucky bitch.

Christian Louboutin made over our beloved Barbie girl not once, but twice with one on the way. Don't get this confused with Malibu Barbie. Louboutin Barbie is not your average girl... one outfit, a pair of shoes and a hair brush? Oh no no. Louboutin Barbie is a BAMF.

2009 was the year of "Cat-Burglar" Barbie. Barbie was styled as a red head with green eyes, and decked out in a black catsuit and Louboutin's "Differa" sandals. She came with three other Louboutin styles: "Miss" ankle boots, "Claudia" peep-toes, and "Altameche" knee-high boots. Her presentation? A brown designer style box that mimics the designer's actual retail displays. Also included are copies of Christian and Barbie's travel journal. Did I mention this "limited edition" Barbie was so limited that it sold out in ONE day? $150 for Louboutins is a ridiculous steal... even if they only fit your pinky toe.

2010 marks Barbie's 50th anniversary and "Dolly Forever," will hit in March. This time she is dressed to navigate the urban jungle. The second doll in the series is styled in a Safari theme dress with lace up front, gold chain link belt, pink sunglasses, and thigh high fringe boots with Louboutin's signature red soles. Three additional pairs of shoes are included with the miniature shoe boxes and cloth shoe bag. Side note fact: the "VIP" waiting list to get your paws on one of these collectables is filled up with more spots than dolls being made.

The "Anemone" Barbie's (my favorite) pictures leaked on the Internet and is due in May.

...and FYI - all of the Louboutin's included with Barbie come in actual human sizes... with actual human price tags of course...

What a Tulle!

When I was younger I joined Ballet. Not because I wanted to dance, but because I wanted to wear a tutu. I should have known then that clothes would dictate the rest of my life.

I never got into Ballet; I wasn't even a good dancer. It was my social hour. Just an excuse to talk to the many girls in the lesson, distracting everyone from the instructor. Most of my Ballet days were spent getting lectured, then being forced to sit facing the mirror as "punishment." Ha. If only she knew it was more time for me to spend admiring my tutu.

Eventually I gave up Ballet when I realized I didn't need an excuse to wear my tutu. So wear it I did. To school, to church, to friend's houses... to the dentist. Eventually the tutu was ripped and tattered beyond repair, and laid to rest where all retired clothes go (im not really sure where that is considering i cant part with anything clothing wise).

You can imagine my excitement (and nostalgia) now that tulle is making a comeback. It has been showing up everywhere... including Fashion Week 2010!

Most of the styles have a modern twist to a classic fabric. The pieces can be dressed up or down. I'm not saying you should wear this to the office (I'm not saying don't either FYI) as most of the pieces have a more special occasion/night out feel.

I will definitely be adding a few of these selections to my wardrobe. I also am creating something for myself out of this enjoyable fabric which I am hopeful about (pictures/details to come). I ordered the LaROK skirt last week and I'll keep you posted on how it looks...and the memories it brings back.

The Pink Sheep of the Family

It's undeniable how brilliant (Lee) Alexander McQueen truly was, which is why his death has left a monumental hole poked through a world-wide fashion heart.

Alexandra Shulman, the editor of British Vogue, said McQueen had influenced a whole generation of designers. "His brilliant imagination knew no bounds as he conjured up collection after collection of extraordinary designs...he was a master of the fantastic, creating astounding fashion shows that mixed design, technology, and performance...he was a modern-day genius who's Gothic aesthetic was adopted by women the world over. His death is the hugest loss to anyone who knew him and for very many who didn't."

I put together a well deserved photo tribute, capturing only a handful of his many stunning pieces.

McQueen was a four-time winner of the British designer of the year award as well as the international designer of the year award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America. He was awarded the CBE in 2003. The runway show for his McQ by Alexander McQueen line, scheduled for tonight in New York, was canceled.

Second-hand Treasure

Having a major daily love affair with fashion (when I say love affair... I mean literally sleeping with my clothes) has expanded my closet in ways I never dreamed of. My collection can now be found in the drawers of my night table, under my bed, in my bed, in my car... taking over closets that aren't mine...

Living at home while convenient, has become uncomfortably tight. Which, as of late, has me browsing new options. I often wonder how my new place will look; I imagine my fashion books sprawled out on the mahogany coffee table... fresh flowers in eclectic vases aligning the granite kitchen counter...beautiful chic furnishings - get the picture?

Storage and closet space for me will be the deal maker or breaker. No walk in - no thank you. But where to find this dream place (and how to afford it!) is the big question.

I have no doubt that I will find it, love it, and make it my own. I have a taste for antiques, so the furnishings I inherited from my late grandmother will help get me started and give my place a history. One piece of history that I have recently fallen in love with are antique cocktail trays. Not just any cocktail tray, spefically - ones made by Hermes or Chanel.

They are hand-painted, old, and gorgeous. Hunting one down has proven to be an obsession; and due to my persistance I recently got a hold of someone who does have one of these beauties for sale!! Don't tell him, but he pretty much can name the price and I will bite. The trays also come with stands (original if you're lucky) so they can double as a chic side table as well.

I won't disclose any more information as to where I have been looking, I don't want any competition! But too cute not to share.

WHITE HOT

Designer spring 2010 creations are out and on pre-order, reminding the fashionable that a new season is (slowly) approaching. And I'm getting ready to start introducing white back into my wardrobe. As the fashion etiquette rules go, white bottoms and footwear can ONLY grace everyday life from Memorial Day through Labor day. But for social rebels such as myself, the first hint of heat is a good enough excuse.

Wearing white denim almost always requires pairing with a bold, statement-making top (and nude underwear!!) think patterns and bright colors. I have YET to see a white outfit done that makes me take a second look ... until now, a la Ashley Tisdale.

The Tiz looks stunning in an (get this) ALL white outfit. Usually wearing all white is a NO-NO. One tends to look: 1. washed out, 2. mistaken for a P Diddy white party reject, 3. missing from your bridal shower, 4. on lunch break from the lab at your job as a scientist.

Miraculously, Ashley avoided looking like any of the horrors mentioned above, and pulled off the best I have seen for an all white ensemble. She got it spot-on by adding a hint of color with a different take on bold pieces - the bronze beads and snake pattern heels. LOVELOVE the way the shoes are the "pop" piece to the outfit, versus just a traditional brightly colored or patterned top.

Personally, I would change out the bronze beads for a much more dramatic necklace and earrings similar in color and style, considering snake print goes with practically anything.

But props Tiz, great outfit and inspiration, and I'm glad you went back to being a blonde.

Borrowing from the Boys

Nothing is fashion is new anymore; the idea of menswear for women originated on the runway in the 1960s when Yves Saint Laurent debuted "Le Smoking" pantsuit. Instant.Fashion.Staple. Lately I have seen the trend reemerging and was eager to hop on the "boyfriend" fashion wagon.

There are two ways you can effectively pull of this style: 1. raid the man in your life's closet or 2. pick up a boy inspired piece made for women. I am lucky to be able to get a little of both.

To avoid appearing too androgynous (or being mistaken for a cross dresser) be sure to balance the menswear pieces with something feminine: a tuxedo jacket over an evening gown, or boyfriend jeans with a soft camisole top.

That leaves the burning question... What about completing the look? Wearing an over sized jacket may be OK... shuffling along in an over sized shoe is not. The language of masculine shoes can be confusing (and somewhat boring!!). Let me calm your fears and introduce you to my favorite style of unisex shoes: Brogues.

Brogues traditionally are laced, made from heavy leather, and have some soft of toe-cap decoration (think traveling salesman). As of late, these Oxford style shoes are everywhere; from the runway, to the red carpet, to walking past you at the grocery store (guilty!). Brogues are newly updated with styles that scream YUM instead of YAWN. But this can be a tricky trend.

That being said, here are two simple celebrity inspired outfits mixing menswear pieces with a feminine touch.

On Sienna Miller: I felt that this outfit was a perfect example of pairing Brogues with a flirty and feminine piece (skirt). Her handbag also makes a bold statement against an otherwise very safe color scheme.

On Megan Fox: I have a very love hate relationship with Megan Fox. Mostly hate. But due to the fact that this outfit is both sexy and comfortable it had to be featured. I love how the boyfriend jeans are slung low on her hips and cuffed at the bottom. Cuffing the pantlegs not only allows her to show off her wedges, but also her ankles, which give a more feminine appeal. Pairing with a low cut tank top takes it to a sexier level.

After all ... boys will be boys, but occasionally girls may want to be one of the guys too.

What's In A Name?

You’re nobody, it seems, unless you can be worn. Actresses, rappers, pop singers, athletes … just a few of the many that have lent their names to handbags, shoes, apparel, fragrances, hair extensions, accessories, condoms … yes condoms. If you’re not aware, specifically I’m referring to the “Magic Stick” Lifestyles brand a la 50 Cent. Is there anything that would indicate to anyone that 50 Cent is a reliable source for birth control?

Anyway, it takes more than a well known name to sell to the hardened New Yorker (Lindsay Lohan leggings anyone?? I think not) it actually takes talent and originality to catch any kind of appeal. This is not the left coast. For example, Nicole Richie recently did a jewelry line for Bebe. I like Nicole Richie, but am I really going to pay $35 more for a metal ring, solely because it was “designed” by her and bears her daughters name on it? I think we know the answer. It may seem easy, being that clothes and accessories are sold everywhere. One may see Ralph Lauren, but not truly understand how Ralph Lauren worked over 30 years to build up that business.

An exception is Elizabeth and James, a line of high-end clothing designed by MaryKate and Ashley Olsen and sold at Neiman Marcus and Saks. If you know me I am not one to give credit unless it is due, in fact the Olsen twins actually freak me out a little bit. Admit it, after Full House they became kind of creepy. But after a quick browse in Neiman, I found myself interested in the “Jessica” dress before I knew who or what the label was. The Elizabeth and James style is contemporary; very uptown and downtown, with both extremes of masculine and feminine pieces. I think the part that really impresses me is that Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have knowledge in every aspect of the design process, from fabric to pricing. Not to mention they actually wear their pieces in their everyday lives; not just for press coverage/marketing. Imagine that.

So props to you MK & Ash. I plan to own a piece of Elizabeth and James… as soon as I get approved for that AMEX. If you shop at Neiman you know what I’m talking about.

The Gloves Are Off

I have found myself obsessed over many, many things. One, this winter season, being driving gloves. You may hear “driving gloves” and think Dale Earnhardt Jr, Driving Miss Daisy, or brass knuckles hidden under the leather accessorized with a crow bar. Not the ones I have been dreaming of. The new driving gloves have a fashionable edge to them and endless wear-ability… from season to season...outfit to outfit. Not to mention they come in a delightful array of shades, styles, plain leather or embellished, to match any fashionistas unique personality. Even Spring mornings in NJ call for some type of hand cover, especially getting up to walk my four-legged partner in crime. So why not wake up in the morning, throw on my oversized cardigan, argyle rain boots from my college days, complete with a makeup-less face, and wear some bold gloves? At least my hand wear can attest to my taste in fashion for those I see in the AM (even if it may be a few squirrels or my cranky neighbor).
