All Hallows Eve

Well, you saw my couture pumpkin... and this Halloween, true to form, we hosted a Halloween soiree at my house. We are VERY big on Halloween!! Here are some out takes from the party.

Jello mold shaped as a brain!

Ghost dessert (I made this one with a mohawk)

I dressed as Flower the Skunk

My Father, Sister and I

My Fiance, Jordan and I

(Side note.. my fiance never dresses up. It was so cute that he and Jordan surprised me and dressed as the same thing!!)

Naturally, Jordan was the life of the party. My little convict party animal!!

How was your Halloween? This weekend we will be celebrating my birthday, which is next Thursday.. YIKES!!

TRENDSPARK! Capes for Fall?

I KNOW you've been seeing them, wondering about them, perhaps even despising them ... but its undeniable, and even Chanel, Marc Jacobs, YSL agree. Capes have overridden the trench for the new Fall coat staple.

YSL

Burberry

H&M

My concern? How to make them look a little more glam and A LOT LESS Hogwarts... So after a little research, I found 3 simple answers.

1. Be a little daring with the color.

emerald green cape by DKNY
A pop of color helps to distinguish exactly what you are wearing.

2. Pick a flattering cut.

Cashmere Cape by Vince
A dolman sleeve instead of open sleeve will prevent you from getting lost in the piece by giving a distinct arm silhouette.

3. Choose appropriate accessories.

Kim Kardashian in Thierry Mugler.
Take a tip from Kim K - picking a great pair of leopard print boots, professional handbag, and sunglasses immediately prevents the "bag lady" look. While you do not necessarily need the Louis Vuitton Pegase 55, Christian Louboutin Lipspike Boots, or Hermes' Birkin, be sure that you pick pieces that will enhance the look. Too much in this case will be, well, too much as the cape should be the focal point of the outfit.

What's your take?

Sunday Funday

I've missed you all! I apologize for not blogging regularly ... wedding planning is a BIG DEAL. I don't think I realized how involved it really is until lately. I'm 8 months out until the big day so it really is crunch time. This weekend I finally picked out the bridesmaid's dresses and our colors!! It was really exciting!!

Apart from all that, fall is my favorite season and Halloween is my favorite holdiay! So I had some festive Halloween fun this weekend too.

My first pumpkin of the season! My girlfriend and I spend our Sunday with Sangria, cheese, bike riding around Indian Lake, and pumpkins! (Mine is on the left, my attempt at Chanel, and her New York Yankees pride). It was a fabulous Sunday indeed.

How was your weekend? Outfit post soon, promise!

Hue Knew?

The way to wear color this fall? HEAD TO TOE.

Halston

Mark Fast

Rachel Roy

Salvatore Ferragamo

Zac Posen

Burberry Prorsum

Oscar de la Renta

Overkill? At first. But imagine them a little less couture and a little more street ready. Add a fun bag and a few chains and I'd be on my way. Especially in Halston!

PS Everything green has been catching my eye lately. I'm loving the Burberry photo. Something about that beautiful green dress paired with a Military jacket and grunge boots. Inspiration. LOVELOVE.

Would you wear head to toe color?

If These Heels Could Talk

I bought these lace up heeled booties from Asos back in the summer (mentioned here) in black and tan. I haven't pulled them out of the box at all until today. They're cute and comfortable! I keep seeing this style everywhere for Fall, so I can't wait to mix and match them with some cute Fall outfits in the next few months... until the peep toe is too much for the chilly NJ weather. I'm thinking slinky LBD and motorcycle jacket next time I wear them, what do you think?

Do you like the blazer? A fabulous find for $11.80 at Bebe.

Street Style - Kim K

If you know me, you know I am a huge fan of the sisters Kardashian, especially Kim. Back before Kim was the socialite/actress/celebutante/model she is now, with an entourage of hair and make up assistants and stylists, she was a stylist/personal shopper herself. (Clients included Brandy, Lindsay Lohan, and childhood friend Paris Hilton.)

I love seeing what kind of outfit Kim wears in her day to day (unstyled) life. Sure, she always looks gorgeous on the red carpet, photo shoots, and public appearances, but wouldn't we all with the right "people?" What it really comes down to is street style.

Key piece to dress up a black tee and distressed jeans? A cropped, fitted blazer.

A printed skirt pulls together a white tank and neutral accessories.

Kim's blue leather jacket adds the perfect pop of color to keep the basic black/white outfit from becoming too (yawn) boring.

How to keep a masculine shirt-dress feminine? The right color choice to compliment hair and skin tone along with a waist cinching belt to show off curves.

The perfect way to wear horizontal stripes? With a simple skirt, necklace and pumps.

Even if you are not a fan of Kim, you can understand that looking chic is super simple. And you don't have to spend a fortune. If you have the basics in your closet all you need are some accessories (a fun pair of shoes, handbag, chunky necklace, a scarf) to complete the look. And my favorite piece of advice - a good pair of sunglasses definitely go a long way!

Fall 2010 Fashion Week

Hard to believe that Fall 2010 fashion week is upon us! And I'm already dying in anticipation!! Can't wait for...

Cynthia Rowley on the 11th
Rebecca Minkoff, Max Azria, and Diane von Furstenberg on the 12th
Carolina Herrera, Monique Lhuillier, and Betsey Johnson on the 13th
Badgley Mischka, Herve Leger and Tibi on the 14th
Tory Burch and Milly on the 15th
J. Mendel, Isaac Mizrahi on the 16th

(all of the dates still subject to change)

I made my September issue last until Monday. I only read a few pages a night.. yea I'm weird like that. Its all marked up, dog eared, and half the pages are pulled or falling out by now. Fashion is a battlefield. I'm wearing my Valentino sunglasses in this picture. I LOVELOVE them!!

Anyway... I also have 2 pieces I need to share with you ASAP! One from DVF and the other from Herve Leger. Hope to do that sometime this week or in the next few weeks.

PS I received some really nice emails in the past few days! Thanks. Let me know if you have any suggestions or requests for the blog. xoxo

Very Truly Yours, Always

I uncovered these GEMS tucked away in my shoe closet. Aren't they fun? I have been doing a little packing up... (dis) organizing, navigating, collecting, weeding out through things. Then putting it all back where it was before. Fall is my favorite season but it really came too quickly this year.

My meatball! And his megaphone... GO TEAM!!

New Babies

I scored these for... ready? 80% off. 80% off!! I laughed while typing that. Awesome sale. I originally wanted Tom Ford's Andrea but had no luck since they are a super old style.

These are super lightweight and a smaller shield style.. which looks better on me. (I won't lie though, had they been a BIG shield style I would have rocked them anyways...)

Sunglasses by Thakoon

I think Thakoon is a seriously underrated designer. (Though his prices may make you think otherwise... he can thank Anna Wintour for that.) Either way, he makes a great pair of sunglasses.

PS... I DID find the perfect fall bag ... stay tuned!

Eternal Studs

New Jersey has definitely taken a more mid-October outlook when it comes to weather this week. Unfortunately. I always get sad around this time of the year. But it's too soon yet. (Next week will be back in the 80s thank God!) Even though I am not yet ready for fall weather, I made it work to my advantage by reviving one of my favorite cool weather booties, my Jeffrey Campbell Ticks. I also pulled out my favorite denim button down that I can't get enough of, and realized how much I have missed the soft fabric. Its quite a difference to put on a long sleeve top once again after running around in tube and tank tops for months.

Forgive the slightly blurry pictures - I'll blame it on the wind. (And perhaps the mood)

I'm kind of obsessed with my Fleur de Lis chain. Perfect combination of chic and grunge.

Sweet Summer Sales

I am back from vacation... hope you didn't miss me too much! I definitely missed blogging!

The end of the summer (tear) is one of my favorite times to search for good bargains and things I wouldn't normally buy at full price. I did well bargain hunting while on my Jersey Shore Vacation! Here are some higlights of my favorite buys.

Kelsi Daggar "Monaco." These were LOVELOVE at first sight. I find flats kind of boring unless they have something extra going on. Like the ruffle on these. And they were on sale! Regular $90. I paid $29. This is how I wore them:

Bustier by Arden B. Bag by Bebe (thanks Kristy!)

I found this no name adorable twist back tank top with silk flower pin at a boutique for $10! The same boutique housed my favorite jeans, True Religion... last pair in my size. 50% off! Not a great picture, but this is how I wore the top:

(and yes that is my beach bag on the bottom right mentioned here )

Fleur de Lis chain. I have been dying to find a nice piece of jewelry with this symbol.

Last but not least... the best purchase.

Made especially for me at The Shore Store. I am from Jersey after all!
